The [51bts#027-bush12] The X-Structure: “Doxology” release forms part of an ongoing collaboration of “joint releases” between the Italian netlabel, 51beats, and the South African netlabel, Bushmen Records. This release follows the previus JOINT releases by Crabnebula and the wonderful mix by dj Khoisan. Our goal is to strengthen our international bonds of mutual love for music in the netlabel scene and in turn to deliver our artists’ music to a much wider audience. If you like the music then please feel free to share it with someone else around the world.

Various – Fern – A Summer Night’s Dream

It is believed, that those, who find a bloomy magical fern in the night of Ivan Kupala, will find happiness. However, in Gogol’s novel a young man finds a fabulous fern flower, that brings him nothing but a curse. Floral wreaths in water, reading the future, jump over fire – the old tradition of midsummers Ivan-Kupala-Day, with herbs, night swimming, talking plants, water magic – which fantastic ritual.

And we bring you the musical soundtrack for such a midsummer night’s dream. With tracks by different local activists and some old and new friends from russia. From Rostov-on-Don we can welcome and introduce Evgeny Light, from Moscow young Phil Gerus with a slightly preview on upcoming Phonocake release and with them our old buddies from Modul, with a track from their album “Over The Dew”, released on Biotronic.

The local part brings the tracks from the ETUI-label dudes Sören Matschiste and Insect O, check their latest compilation “TOMBOLA DER FREISINNIGEN 2″. Then we have Kunstoffbreaks’ Cuthead and Siggy Blooms in the house, both released fresh stuff online, check KSB. As a debut there are two tracks by local hero Götterkreis, who is known from liveacts in town, and additionally one older fluffy track by Madstyle, ‘tested’ in diverse Psy Chill Outs.

This tiny statement of intent is now one year old, and Subwise has just released a double-CD/net-album entitled, fittingly enough, “One Year of Subwise.” Looking back over twelve months of various styles and genres, the label is able to tag its musical output as “electronic, downtempo, experimental, idm, post-rock, glitch, hip-hop, chiptune, etc…” On the new compilation, these multifaceted tendencies constitute a total running time of two hours, forty-six minutes. That’s a very generous helping of sounds, considering that it comes for free.

Continuum, the newest installment in the IDMf library, is an electronic music album to behold. Beginning with the hard-hitters and slowing down to a softer touch, this compilation showcases the diversity of genres displayed on the IDMf netlabel, including breakcore, dubstep, house, breaks, ambient, and IDM. The tracks are arranged as they would be in a double CD package: Side A includes eight tracks jam-packed with energy that smoothly segue into a lighter mix of glorious beats on Side B. In February 2009 we pushed the big green GO button and publicly launched Astor Bell. During the first year we released 12 titles, all very near and dear to our hearts.

We wanted to mark our first anniversary with something really special and memorable. After kicking around a pile of ideas on what that might be we decided on loosening our grip and opening the gates into the Astor Bell brain.

The sum of our contributing artist’s work is greater than the label name we put on it. And it is surely greater than two 30-somethings sitting behind computers making the files available to you. The broken beats, the down-sampled waves, the backwards bass and the organic subway samples accumulate like a snowball rolling down a ski slope into complete pieces of audio that dig themselves into the deeper parts of our being.

Our artists backtracked into their harddrives and extracted these singular moments and scattered them over the floor.

We asked you to put the pieces back together, and you did.

We received submissions reaching to all corners of the globe. We hand picked the absolute best. Please know that it was NOT an easy task. We thank you for all of your submissions.

Anniversary 1 : Astor Bell Remixes. Mission completed.
